Catch an Orioles Game at Camden Yards
Rachael's Dowry Bed and Breakfast is the perfect place to stay in Baltimore if your plans include catching a major league baseball game. We're an easy 5-minute walk to Camden Yards, home of the Baltimore Orioles. Come root, root, root for the home team with professional baseball action right in our backyard.
Here in Baltimore, we affectionately refer to our beloved Orioles as the Birds or the O’s. The team is part of the American League East (along with the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays), which is arguably the toughest division in MLB. Notable ballplayers who built their careers here in Baltimore include Earl Weaver, Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken, Jr., Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, Eddie Murray and Jackie Robinson. While he became famous as a Yankee, Baltimore native Babe Ruth got his start here when he was recruited in 1914. Today, his boyhood home near Camden Yards is the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum.
Oriole Park at Camden Yards celebrates its 32nd year in 2024. Opened in 1992, it replaced the Orioles’ former home at Memorial Stadium. In that time, Camden Yards has welcomed more than 72 million baseball fans, plus millions more who have participated in major concerts, festivals, meetings, tours and community events held at the ballpark. When you catch a game this season, check out the anniversary exhibit located at Home Plate Plaza to explore more than 50 items of historic memorabilia from the last three decades.
When Camden Yards was built, planners took a new and dynamically different approach to ballpark construction to create this architectural gem. The gamble paid off. From its downtown location, state-of-the-art innovations, brick-and-steel construction and asymmetrical dimensions, Camden Yards' iconic retro style has inspired similar designs across the Major League. The ballpark has been a major boost to the revitalization of the area west of Inner Harbor, with the stadium's economic impact topping $10 billion over the last 30 years.
So when you visit Camden Yards for a game, grab some peanuts and Cracker Jacks and take a moment to appreciate this jewel of Baltimore in all its glory. It's truly in a league of its own.
"You could be a kid for as long as you want when you play baseball." — Cal Ripken, Jr.
