Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion at Baltimore Pride
Come to a place where love knows no boundaries, where vibrant colors paint the streets with unapologetic pride, and where diversity takes center stage. That place is Baltimore! Every June, the city rolls out the rainbow-colored carpet for 100,000 visitors who will descend on the city for Baltimore Pride. If you're planning to attend the galas, parades and parties that celebrate love and acceptance for the LGBTQ+ community, we invite you to stay at Rachael's Dowry Bed & Breakfast, our historic inn where everyone is welcome.
Baltimore Pride is one of the oldest LGBTQ+ pride celebrations in the country. It started as a small event in 1975 that saw activists come together in a peaceful demonstration. More than four decades later, it's grown into a week-long extravaganza hosted by the Pride Center of Maryland. 2023's festivities are set for June 19-25. The signature events are the Pride Parade, the Block Party and Pride in the Park.
One Love, One Heart, One Pride. That's the theme of this year's Baltimore Pride Parade on Saturday, June 24. The parade kicks off at 1 p.m. and marches down Charles Street in the city's Mount Vernon neighborhood. The atmosphere during the parade is nothing short of electric, filled with music, dancing, cheers and exuberant energy. There will be marching bands, colorful floats, drag performers and so much more. LGBTQ+ community groups and their allies will be well-represented in the parade, wearing bright and bold outfits and waving rainbow flags to show their pride and support.
Following the parade, the celebration continues with the Block Party, the largest LGBTQ+ event in all of Maryland! Held on Charles Street between North Avenue and 23rd Street, the Block Party features outdoor stages with impressive live performances by musicians, DJs, drag queens and other artists. Vendors will be selling crafts, jewelry, apparel and plenty of rainbow-themed merchandise, not to mention delicious food and beverages. Most of all, the Block Party creates a safe and welcoming space for people to connect, socialize and celebrate.
The whirlwind of fabulousness continues on Sunday, June 25, with Pride in the Park. Held from noon to 6 p.m. in Druid Hill Park, this year's Pride in the Park will be bigger than ever. Grammy-nominated rapper Remy Ma and chart-topping singer K. Michelle will be the stars of the main stage. There will be plenty of other music, performers, exhibitors and fun throughout the park. Pride in the Park is also a great opportunity to discover businesses and organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community and learn about topics such as HIV/AIDS prevention, mental health resources and political advocacy.
With its lively atmosphere, colorful displays of solidarity and a wide range of activities, Baltimore Pride has become a significant part of Baltimore's cultural fabric.
